Perikemanusiaan

She was in the car with her parents and siblings.

Traffic light turned red, and they stopped.

She saw a young man squatting under the tree by the roadside on a broad daylight. He looked weak, and lost.

She just made a simple remark.

Kesian orang tu. Duduk kat luar panas-panas ni”. When she said that, she really meant it.

One of the people in the car made a stupid remark.

Ha ah la.. kesian.. Eleh tapi cina, tak payah kesian!”

WTH?

Bukan ke perikemanusiaan itu tak kenal bangsa?

Ambition

Funny that she didn’t shed a tear.
Funny that she thought it all sounded normal to her.

After all these years, she was the one who built him up.
Gave him the desire to continue with life.
Provided shelter when it rains.
Spread her wings when the world turns its back against him.

She recollected.

She is just a simple girl from a small family, growing up in a big town. She was not a bright student, but she sure has clear ambition. She always wanted to start her life big. She wanted to have big family, she has always wanted to obtain big qualification, possess big position, and hold a big career path. She has always wanted to study abroad, get married to an engineer or a lawyer and work as professionals.

She fantasizes living in a hectic life in a big city like London and speak French fluently. She dreams of having a big home in Kensington, hire a chauffeur to drive her kids to school, have a big holiday mansion in Spain, and be someone prominent in the society she lives in.

But life is not perfect. Nothing is perfect.

Disregarding her dreams, but holding on to her ambition..

She could live without the mansion in Spain, without a chauffeur to drive her kids to school, and she could just live in a small 2-bedroom home in Shah Alam, settles with only Malay and English as her daily language, living in the chaotic and unruly Kuala Lumpur.

But she cannot just work as clerk and get married to an office boy and just be thankful that she is still earning. She had set that goal, and she will live every minute of her life en route for the ambition. She will get up if she fails; she will fight, and will not be defeated. She can forgo her beautiful dreams, but not her ambitions.

She will not be overpowered. Not even by love.

She realized now that she can’t control the surroundings to accommodate for her goal. She has got to go out and look for the right surroundings for the same goal.

Raya 20092009

Raya would normally be the same throughout the years.

Same old bunga api.

Same old kuih raya, rendang, lemang and ketupat.
Same old small family pictures.

Same old big family pictures.

Same old scene everytime, everywhere. Hehehe..

Distinctively this raya, we did not stay in kampong that long like we used to do to celebrate raya, instead all of my family flew to Kelantan to be with my mak long who just got to know that she has got a 3.5cm tumor at the head of her pancreas.

While the result of her CT scan has yet to be released from the specialist, the M.Os and other doctors had pretty much hinted that the tumor is cancerous. Although we do not want to accept the indications, it didn’t deter us from fearing the risk of a poor prognosis.

I can’t doubtlessly imagine how calm she was when she broke the news. When everybody was crying, she could still give the best smile to everyone.

Dear God, please don’t let it be cancerous. Let the tumor be operable and removable. Please make us strong for her to be stronger.

The official result will be released in two weeks time. I know there is still hope. I know God loves someone like her. Nice, pleasant, amiable are not adequate enough to describe a person like her. She is just wonderful in her own way.

Ramadhan 2009 review

3. Pakai baju kurung hari-hari – Kecuali satu hari yang malas nak gosok baju kurung
4. Turun kan berat badan walaupun satu kg – Literally 1 kg
5. Try to make a point untuk berbuka puasa dengan all set of friends sepanjang Ramadhan – tak kesampaian
6. Kurangkan menyebut ‘Ba Alif Ba Ya’ kepada pemandu-pemandu yang tidak sopan di jalan raya – Kecundang
7. Berbuka puasa di rumah lebih kerap – Alhamdulillah..
8. Menunaikan 5 waktu solat penuh setiap hari – Ada jugak off
9. Involve in at least one charity work - Alhamdulillah
10. Balik kerja awal – ALHAMDULILLAH..

Alhamdulliah.. banyak yang aku hajat, telah tercapai dalam bulan ramadhan ini.

Jangan la pulak hanya di lakukan pada bulan puasa.. contohnya balik rumah awal from work. Perlu dilakukan setiap hari. Hehe..

Few pix of Ramadhan dinner

With Ali's friends from school. "The Apartment", The Curve.
Food was ok. But limited. Suggest to eat first before solat. Because by the time you come back from solat, you can only see desserts.

With my dear friends. "Seoul Garden", PJ. Food was fantastic. Tapi tempat dia ramai sangat orang. Lanta melekit-lekit. Hati-hati..nanti jatuh. Suggest to try in the one at One Utama. You will not regret.

Just the two of us. "Tony Romas", Sunway Pyramid. OUHHHH THE Bomb! Food was damn good. Service is superb. I made a reservation on the day itself some time at 4pm to come in at 6.45pm. Pre-ordered our food (Chilli's definitely won't allow this). We got our food at 7.10 pm. Was not dissapointing at all.

First raya at my house with my family members. All my aunties and uncles had dinner with us. Of course la it was all good. hehe..

With my highskool sweeties. "San Fransisco Steakhouse", Mid Valley. The buffet spread was good. Price Rm 58 is all worth it. You got a taste of Japanese, Malay and western. Suggest to book a week in advance because it will be full everyday.

Going back to kampung in about 1 hour and 45 minutes from now. And I have not packed a thing.
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir dan Batin.

Ramadhan 2009 visit

Visit to the KK3 ward at the pediatric HKL is an annual event for my family. It all started when my brother was released from that ward 10 years ago.

My brother was diagnosed of a lymphoma cancer when he was 13. We were at my kampong in Ipoh when he started to moan that he couldn’t move a muscle.

He started to complaint that he couldn’t ‘buang air besar’ and his stomach was in pain months before that. My parents took him to a couple of GPs, but they failed to identify the symptoms.

Until when whatever that’s inside his stomach burst, and he couldn’t move at all, that we rushed him to the nearest hospital. He had undergone an emergency operation. There was a growth in his big intestine that had spurt and the surgeon cut the intestine to throw the tumor. Potong sejauh mana yang boleh dilihat dengan mata kasar. So his intestine now becomes very short.

A week later, he was transferred to the pediatric KK3 ward in HKL for further treatment. He did chemotherapy and other treatments necessary in that ward. He had spent the whole of his 14 year old life in that hospital with my mother by his side. My mom almost resigned from work as she couldn’t commit to her job but luckily she has got a very understanding boss. She was given the flexibility to come to work whenever she thinks she can, and no cut in her salary. Semoga Allah memberkati rezeki Dato’ Harun Bin Ali.

So my mother was practically living in that ward and she had undergone a different kind experience that one could never get elsewhere. In that ward, there was no difference in races or wealth. Everybody had a cancer kid to look after, and everybody go through the same hardship and sacrifices. And they go through it all together. Every other day, they witnessed death; they witnessed other kids getting released from the ward, everything is like a normal scene to them.

Alhamdulillah, after 10 years, my brother now is a healthy guy. Terlebih sihat orang kata. Semua atas berkat kesabaran dan pengorbanan both my parents, doa family and friends, help from the hospital staff and doctors.

And for that reason, this visit is like an annual event for my family in the beginning and later joint by some other friends who are interested to contribute in terms of money and assistance. Thank You.

During the times when I was in the UK, my best friend Zetty had been the one assisting my mother in buying presents and accompanied her to the hospital. Thank You, babe.

Presents for the kids are from Toys ‘R’ Us, and duit raya to the kids are from accumulation from various contribution by individuals. Extra money held will be used later for jamuan hari raya with the cancer patients.

Here are some photos taken during the visit. In the pictures are my mother, and my friends, Zetty and Nurul.

Thank you, doctors and sisters for having us there.
Till we meet again.

My favourite fish

I am not a fish eater. But this fish.........

I love McD.

It is sinful, I know.

But I love Fillet-O-Fish.

Irresistible, I know.

Never crossed my mind the type of fish that they'd use to make this. Maybe I've always had the impression that they'd use Dory fish.

The kind that I'd order whenever I go to Manhattan Fish Market.
Cantik, bukan? Nak makan pun senang hati..
Never thought that it's from this ugly creature from the sunless depths of Pacific Ocean.

Hoki Fish for you, found in fillet-o-fish.

It's just very tasty.

What The F

What The FAT?!?!??!!

http://www.fatburgr.com/ provides us the nutritional information about the top and delicious fast food chain and restaurants.

Most of them are shockingly fattening. The amount of fat and calories are off the charts!!! A whole day meal of Breakfast at McDonalds, Lunch at Carl's Jr and Dinner at Chillis for example will provide you the same amount of energy for almost 2 days! Madness!!!!

I know for the fact that these foods are indeed insanely good albeit could be a little bit disgusting. But you can't help feeling terrible looking at a sight of a 400lb man eating away those burritos or burgers and downing them with triple milkshake without feeling worried about his 'health'. For all we know he is pissing it out of the window if his diet is made up of those food.

Eating healthy is a matter of preference and discipline. But what is more important is to have a balanced diet and lifestyle. Its OK to once in a while 'enjoy' those crazy burgers and sandwiches but make sure we have it sparingly and not develope cravings for these sinful meals.

We only have ourselves to blame if we do not take good care of our health and physical condition. Americans are the fattest nation in the world but I think Malaysia is catching up. It is true since we are having the Biggest Loser Show soon in this region.

That show will have a tough time finding participants in Africa compared to Malaysia. Even the National Heart Institute is expanding, parallel with the waistline of general Malaysians. We at times take healthy diet for granted. This must be avoided and if possible stop gradually.

Just look at how Malaysians feast on food during Ramadhan, it may not come as a surprised that those new clothes for Eid may not even fit come the end of Ramadhan. In future people will not ask how much weight you lost by fasting, instead they will ask how much you gained.

Lost

She looks weak.

Yes.

That’s just in your eyes.

She may have grumbled a lot.

Yes.

But she learns to accept.

She appears to be strong in the outside.

Yes.

She breaks in the inside.

Has anybody ever tried to understand her?

She sat down thinking.

Why is everything turning their backs on her?

Why does everything just refuses to be her companion?

She believes in karma.

But no matter how hard she tries to mend the bad karma.

She keeps on failing.

She started to lose faith.

But when she wake up from her sleep,

She thanked God that she is still alive.

That she wasn’t taken out of faith.

You and Me - The Cranberries

"You And Me"

I'm not going out tonight 'cos I don't want to go
I am staying at home tonight 'cos I don't want to know
You revealed a world to me and I would never be
Dwelling in such happiness, your gift of purity

Aahh, you and me it will always be
You and me Forever be,
Eternally it will always be you and me

I don't pay attention to the ones who never cared
Find your own direction 'cos there's sweetness in the air
You will be the world to me and I will always be
Dwelling in this happiness, your gift of purity

Aahh, you and me will always be
You and me Forever be,
Eternally will always be
You and me

Always be You and me
Forever be, Eternally
It will always be You and me
Forever be, Eternally

Hey Ladies - Rossa

Sudah kubilang jangan terlalu yakin
Mulut lelaki banyak juga tak jujur
Bila sakit hati wanita bisanya nangis
Sudah ku bilang jangan terlalu cinta
Kalau patah hati siapa mau nolong
Seperti langit dan matahari tak bersatu lagi

Hey ladies jangan mau di bilang lemah
Kita juga bisa menipu dan menduakan
Bila wanita sudah beraksi dunia hancur

Hey ladies sekarang cinta pakai otak
Jangan mau rugi hati dan juga rugi waktu
Bila dia merayumu ingat semuanya bohong

Memanglah tak semua laki-laki busuk
Namun ladies tetaplah harus waspada
Semogalah kita semua akhirnya
Mendapatkan cinta yang tulus

Sudah kubilang jangan terlalu yakin
Mulut lelaki banyak juga tak jujur
Bila sakit hati wanita bisanya nangis

The holiday

If not because of the important meeting I had this afternoon, I wouldn’t have gone to work.

It is very trying to be waking up early on a Monday morning when you know everyone in your house or your neighborhood is on holiday.

It really doesn’t help to be living in Selangor, when you actually work in KL.

Worst, when you are about to leave the house you found that your house helper is still sleeping.

Your cats are sleeping.

No sound of car honks.

The sky was very gloomy.

Think it was about to rain.

Angin sepoi-sepoi bahasa.

Cobaan.

Oh Well, the traffic was smooth.

Thanks to Selangorean for taking up the holiday seriously.

Jeles.

Lelaki-lelaki

Lelaki A:
A month before his wedding, told his fiancé “I am gonna call off the wedding. I got pay cut, I cannot afford and I don’t think I am ready to get married.”

Two months after that, he married his office slut.

Lelaki B:
Has been very sweet and understanding towards his girlfriend. He has never complaint although his girlfriend is always occupied with work. Never talked about marriage.

Only to be caught has been having affair with his best friend’s wife.

Lelaki C:
Left his girlfriend of 4 years for another girl. Back to his first girlfriend after finding out how slut the second girl is. Married her and had a son together.

One year after the marriage, he cheated on her again.

Lelaki D:
Told her muslim girlfriend that he will never convert to Islam. His girlfriend finally realized that the relationship will not go anywhere. When she decided to leave, he didn’t stop her.

A year later, he married another muslim girl.

We don’t expect you to be loyal to one girl.
But we at least want you to be honest.

My boss always say to us “Don’t know, say don’t know. Don’t act like you know” (every time we try to answer his questions that are so obvious we don’t know the answer to).

So my recommendation to the guys, “Don’t like, say don’t like. Don’t cheat and give stupid reason to break up".

It's not that simple

10 Minute Fat Burning Exercise - by Marie Claire http://shine.yahoo.com/event/tastefulliving/10-minute-fat-burning-exercises-505940/

1 MINUTE Jog in place.

1 MINUTE Stand while holding weights vertically in your hands, arms stretched out. Now pretend you're sitting down on a chair, hold for three counts, then get back up, bringing the weights toward your chest. Repeat.

1 MINUTE Holding the weights, get in a semisquat position, spine at 45 degrees, back flat, arms hanging straight down, perpendicular to the floor. Now bend your elbows (so they're pointing up at the ceiling) and lift weights toward your chest; hold. Slowly lower weights to original position. Repeat.

3 MINUTES Take your hand weights, arms by your side. Step right foot forward into a lunge; hold as you slowly bring up your weights in a bicep curl; return to original position. Now, while pivoting, step to the left (still with your right foot); hold; return. Continue for two more rotations until you're back to where you started. Now repeat entire revolution with the left foot forward.

1 MINUTE Do push-ups on the floor or against the wall.

3 MINUTES Drop to the floor for a core hold: With forearms and toes on floor, keep spine straight and abs held in. Hold for one minute. Then release and stretch back into a yoga child's pose: Sit back on your shins and reach your arms to the floor in front of you. Repeat core hold.

What you'll get in four weeks: Toned arms; jeans that fit better.

The Climb - Miley Cyrus

I can almost see it
That dream I’m dreaming but
There’s a voice inside my head sayin,
You’ll never reach it

Every step I’m taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an up-hill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down but
No I’m not breaking
*I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m gonna remember most yeah
Just gotta keep going
And I, I gotta be strong
Just keep pushing on
Cause...

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an up-hill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an up-hill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It’s all about
It’s all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith
