Adidas Running Shoes Seeding Programme 2009 Q1

To all Adidas Hardcore,

Good news for runners who blog or having their own webpage.

adidas had once again brought in more highly innovative running shoes to be given away FREE to runners to wear-test them & to post in their blog a very frank & unprejudiced opinion about the shoes after 30 days of usage.

One of the shoe that is included in this program is adiZero Adois that Haile Gebrselassie used at the 2008 Berlin Marathon setting a world record in the Marathon at 2hr 03 mins 58 sec.

The sizes are limited and I have them in size UK 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5 & 10.5. Those wishing to possess these shoes will have to comply with the following terms & condition :

1 ) Come to the adidas office to fit the shoes.
2 ) Undertake to post a comment in their blog
a ) about the Technical features of the Shoes upon receiving them
b ) about the performance of the shoes after 30 days of usage.
3 ) Must be a blogger or has his/her own website.

This offer expires on 15th January 2009 & the shoes will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis. The program this year is only open to those who had NOT participated or missed out in this program previously.

UPNM Duathlon In Pictures

For this race we did not stop at McDonald's drive thru to get our usual sausage McMuffins.. Isma was dissapointed to see me without those muffins before the race. Next time ok lu makan Muffin tuh..

As usual the crowd was slow to respond in the morning. The number of participants were less compared to last week and there were more participants from University category this time around. The horns went off at about 0915 if not mistaken. I have been telling myself that for the first run, run as comfortable as you can and I think I was too comfortable. Haha...80% of the crowd were already on their bike leg when I came into the transition. But it did not bother me because I just want to enjoy the bike leg because the route is one way out and one way in. It gives me the chance to see how many people are actually in front of me...and there were far too many. I did not set any target specifically for the bike.

I was just hoping that I could continue with my 'run' after the bike. When I came into the transition after the bike leg I managed to run for only about 100 meters. Haha...gila siput. Hadi and Ikhwan were cheering for nothing when I passed them because I did not run like I was supposed to. Heck, the 2nd run turned out to be my afternoon walk asking for heat stroke. But I just want to finish the race within the cut off time. At the start I told myself to try and finish it within 1h 45m. But I was still glad that I managed to do it within 2 hours. The weather was scorching hot and I had company during the 2nd run with a UPNM cadet by the name Farid. At the last stretch, Azman ran together with all of us (Farid, Myself, Adeline, MAC and Arif). All of us thanked each other for company.

Azman, Ayman and I stayed behind for the Prize Presentation as our friends (Isma and Hadi) both helped their team to 1st position in respective categories. (Men's and Mixed Relay). Good job boys. Rilek2 tapi menang. Baru la style. Aku nak koko crunch dalam hamper korang.

Had great fun with great company. Congratulations to Julie for finishing top 5 (expected pun). Well done to team Man - Tap (Ayman and Azman), and Farid botak. Although Izrin never admit herself to be active, she was missed during the race not just by me but also others. You should not discount the power of having fun as well as racing. If you intend to have fun and never kid yourself, you will most likely end up having fun. Keep it up and always believe in yourself because others do.

Here are some pictures after the race:

What are you running for?

Before the run

Ali's obsession towards the blue vest aunty.

Drenched in peluh, with Ayman who was the fastest of us three

It kept on getting better everytime. The last time I joined a 10k run was during KLIM08. 10km without proper training is not easy. I have not had time for any training during the day. Ok, let's not say training lah, coz I am not a true runner, or a devout trithlete. I really do this for fun. So doing training sound sooo kuat to me. Not suitable for someone who merely runs at 8.5mins per km. I should at least run for 45 mins everyday just to keep myself fit. But then again, do I have the time? Nottt!

To answer Siemen's question what am I running for? My answer would probably, be.. "I am running for lurveee" haha.. I just enjoy being in the crowd. I love to see their enthusiasm and their excitement, their obsession towards running. I have always admired their spirit and willpower from the first day I signed up for running. The thing with running is, you dont only see genuine runners flooding the running event. You get to see the different mixture of people join together with one mission. "To complete the run". It gives you the satisfaction. But of course la the satisfaction that I get is not the same as the fulfillment and contentment as the first one thousand people (you can guess already that I am normally at the last thousand people =p).

This 10k run wasn't as bad as the first time I ran for 10k. Prolly because I had egg Mc Muffin in the morning? :p Thanks to Ali for the tip. At least this time, I managed to run more than walking.

Earlier before the run, Ali told me that he will be doing a back track to the running route to look for me immediately after he finished. But he could not find me. Not that I lost my way, but because I was too far away from the finishing line, that if Ali were going to look for me and run back with me, he'll be doing a 14km run instead of 10!

Ready or Not Here I Come...

Went to Wisma OCM to collect the race number and timing chip. My number will be F5403 and Ayman's number is F5404. To be honest I am quite nervous and not so confident with myself to finish the run. It is very obvious to me that I will not be finishing the run comfortably and since physical training has been really below average, I might want to strengthen the mental aspect of the run. No doubt it will be painful and difficult eventhough it is just a half marathon. An avid runner will definitely finish his full marathon even before I can finish half of his distance. But that does not mean I should not run right? After all running is all about discovery. This is when I communicate with my body and mind to focus on the distance ahead, swallow the pain and not to give up until I have put everything to the limit and by that I hope my limit will last 21 km this Sunday. Personally I am really hoping that I can finish the run. Timing? That is not really a concern as long as I can finish within the cut off time.

It is going to be quite frustrating to get DNF on my name in the official results later.
But having said that I shall also prepare myself in case I am unable to finish it. There's always another time and place to attempt it again.

Hoping to see friends at the run and also looking forward to makan berdosa after the run.

Running Time...

In about a month from now, I shall be joining my first attempt to run 21km. I shall be attempting this feat with Ayman. Azman is also running in the 10km. All 3 of us left it quite late to register for the AmBank KL International Marathon, however we managed to get the early bird registration fee for our registrations. As for the approach, I shall take it step by step as I have not run more than 10km before this. The cut off time is 3:30 so my target is 3:29..haha.

This run is one of the major events in the running calendar since mid 80s. So I am very sure that the number of participants in the run will be high. As for the familiar faces of the Malaysian Triathlete/ Malaysian based Triathlete and the recent IronMan Langkawi 2008 finishers, runners and sports enthusiast, we shall all enjoy the run and have fun training. I am looking forward to see friends and hoping to make new friends in a month or so. Happy running people.

To all newly crowned Ironmans...recover well train smart and hope you guys get a PR for marathons. If any of you are just going to run for fun, make sure you get plenty of it.
