New life, new beginning

I know I havn't been updating the blog since the day I got married. Not blaming anything, coz I was blissfully living the life of a 'newly wed couple' for the past 4 months (exactly 4 months from today). I will definitely update on wedding post mortem when I can find the time.

My husband is now stationed in JB, and undergoing training in Singapore, for how long, I am not too sure. Yes, he had been a weekend husband as much as I have been a weekend daughter to my parents. So during the weekdays, we were all very busy with work, and I can only call myself a human when it's Friday night, fetching my husband from the bus stand when he comes back from JB.

3 months ago was also the time when I decided to continue with my remaining 3 papers to get me to Chartered Accountant (CA). So 3 weeks before raya, I sent in my resignation letter. Serving one month notice was not very difficult, I had 1 week of raya and and there was a long weekend on Malaysia day, my boss also were not much around during that period, so wow!! 1 month felt like 1 week to me.

This raya was my first raya as a wife. What was different? I still go back to my kampung, but only on the first day of raya, so I wasn't there for bunga api, masak memasak, takbir raya from house to house and no malay raya movie on tv. I was also not there during the salam-salam mintak ampun part where it's usually a tradition to go to each person according to the rank in the family.

I was at my inlaw's the raya eve and also on raya morning. But I am not complaining coz the feeling is really good to be the new pengantin, everywhere you go, people will ask for the new pengantin. What's NOT nice is when people starts to hold my tummy and say "takde lagi ker?" pressure!

What else was different? I had to make sure that both of us have matching baju raya, ironed the sampin for the hubby, when it's makan time with the family, I have to make sure that my husband is eating first, had his drinks ready and make coffee for him after dinner. Really, this raya was the first time we ever spend time together for that long period of time...1 week!

Ohh, what else was different? I seek for forgiveness from my husband the night before raya and it was very touching. Tapi esoknya, buat dosa lagi.. hehehe :p

I have ended my career as an auditor in EY last thursday, a day before Malaysia day. Now I am in JB with my husband becoming the Lady of Leisure, that is now my job title! I'll seek for other new title next year, insyaAllah.

For now, I am happy with the thoughts of living together as husband and wife for the first time. And I am sure that there will be a lot more changes in my life as I go on.
This is my new life, my new beginning.

The Engagement

30 October 2010, 8.15 pm.

Was the day when I got engaged.

It was supposed to be a small event. Small as in my father had expected all guests to be able to sit at one time during dinner. He didn't like idea that some people sit inside the house, bersila to eat while some comfortably sit at the tables outside. So initially I didn't invite any friends because he didn't let me.

But on the day itself, i managed to convince him that, in all engagement ceremony I have attended, it is normal for some friends and relatives to hang around and eat later, or take their food and duduk bersila. After all, it's buffet.

So, 7 hours before the event, I texted my girlfriends. Didnt put high hopes that they will come, but to my surprise, some girls, had really taken some time off, although its such a short notice, to come to my event. Appreciate so much.

Big thank to my aunties, uncles and cousins who had been a big help to my family one night before and the day after. Thank you to all the guests especially my girlfriends, who came by with flowers, chocolates and cakes. You know who you are.

(Cheh, macam dapat award plak..)

The official photos with some reviews of the engagement will come in later.

Meet the parents

After kononnya di-proposed, the next step is to tell the parents. But I didn’t know how to go about it.

“Pa, nak kawin” or “Pa, Ali ajak kawin”, or “Pa, nak kawin, boleh?”

Bodoh giler bunyi.. haha..

It’s not something new to my parents. I mean like, all my family is expecting that to happen. We have known each other for more than 5 years now, and he is very much loved by my family. So the next best thing to do is to get married. But, you see, I’m the first child and the only daughter of En Khairil Anuar. So naturally it came as a shock to my dear father. Shocked not because I’m gonna marry Ali, but maybe because he realized that I have grown up.

Can you imagine this face, when I finally told him “Pa, Ali nak hantar family dating merisik before puasa”.

In between happy and alarmed, he responded, “Hah? Cepatnya?????” He looked at me for a while and said “Ok”. :)

Yes, it’s in two weeks. And now when I looked at the calendar, I can’t believe it myself that finally, I’m going to the next level. Alhamdulillah.

The proposal

He said:

Hun, nanti lepas exam, please save one Saturday and a Sunday.

She said:

Hah? Untuk apa?

He said:

Kita gi kursus kahwin..

She winks (over the phone, cannot see)

And she thought "Was that a proposal?"

Getting to know you II

Your view on yourself:
Other people find you very interesting, but you are really hiding your true self. Your friends love you because you are a good listener. They'll probably still love you if you learn to be yourself with them.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:
Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

Your views on education
You may not like to study but you have many practical ideas. You listen to your own instincts and tend to follow your heart, so you will probably end up with an unusual job.

The right job for you:
You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:
You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:
You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.

Getting to know you

A friend of mine introduced to me an interesting site. http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test82.aspx

Maybe you can try.. get to know yourself, or let your partner do, and get to know him/her too.. so you can get to know each other better.

I did it just for fun though.. but i guess 98.89% everything is true about me. I dunno.. only Ali can tell ;)

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:
You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?

Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of having no one to rely on in times of trouble. You don't ever want to be unable to take care of yourself. Independence is important to you.

Who is your true self:
You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.

His first cut

First time potong rambut di kedai after three years. He's been botak all the years.

He always said i am always wasting money on hair. RM 50 tak berbaloi untuk potong rambut for things that you can do on your own. So he shaved his own rambut everytime. Like duh!!! takkan nak saya potong botak kot?

This time, i brought him to a saloon that offers RM20 for a cut.

Tengoklah muka dia yang sedih rambutnya di potong..

And...he likes the haircut..! Honey, sometimes you have to pay extra to look better. :p

Last night we went to watch Puteri Gunung Ledang the musical. Since it was a friday night and i was working, i didn't bring a camera with me. So, no photos.. :)

And yes, the play was fantastic!! I love every single minute of the show. I love the singing and i love the acting. The props memang one of the best. Hang Tuah was a bit 'pelat' thought, but he acted well.. and he's macho too!

I shall not say more about the show, i believe you have heard the same thing over and over again in the paper, in the news and magazines. BUT, what I want to tell you is... what happened before the show started.

Ali fetched me up at my client's office at 1930 from Jalan Ampang to Istana Budaya.. which.. is not far! Tapi jam...! So he was trying to avoid the jam, dia lalu jalan lain, lalu jalan belakang katanya!

Sekali sampai Sentul!

Lepas tu dia bising..dia kata nyesal pegi beli tiket tu. bayar mahal2 and he thought that he was not gonna enjoy it. Dengan jalan jam on a Friday night, dengan sampai lambat, dengan perut lapar...

Akhir nya.. after the show he said "This is even better than MammaMia the musical" :p

I cakap takmo dengar!!!!! Again, u gotta pay extra to get something nice, something better.. :) I'm glad he liked it anyway.. kalau tak sure saya kene tanam hidup2!

On another note (saja jer nak selit sikit).. I never knew that 1901 ada jual hotodg murah every 19th of the month. Normally, jarang sekali orang nak beli hotdog dia.. ye lah.. dah la tak besar mana pon..mahal plak tu...

But..on the 19th the other day...

People queueing to get hotdogs.. and just one each tau deorang beli..ada makcik tu sampai 50 ketul dia beli sorang.. adoiii!!!!
You gotta sell things cheap to get them laku..
