Frustration

Not a frustration towards love, but food.. hehe.. This is apparently the time of the month where I will be craving for certain food. And this time..it’s Burger King French Chicken. I have actually been craving for quite some time. I think that’s my latest addiction..sadly..it’s food! I can eat BKFC practically everyday without feeling bored. Now I haven’t had any BKFC for few weeks and I’ve been missing it like hell. So today I decided to go get one for dinner.

I went to Carrefour to shop for groceries. My parents will be arriving at KLIA tomorrow morning and I don’t want my mom to think I haven’t been taking care of the kitchen very well.. So I shopped and the bill altogether summed up to RM 430. (,”)

Later, I went to the nearest BK and I ordered one set No. 12 (French chicken) and one double cheeseburger for my bro. I purposely went to that particular store because I know they don’t have that many customers so my French chicken would normally be hot with its’s melted Swiss cheese and tangy mayo covering the chicken patty and smoked chicken. Oh yea..i am terliur already..

Alangkah frustrated nya I when I reached home. I found that she didn’t give me my French chicken but a mushroom swiss instead. Haiyaaa… I was soo damn blardy frustrated. Dahla I had to eat the burger that I don’t fancy.. Terpaksa gemukkan badan makan something that you don’t like. Dahl ah gemok makan burger, tak enjoy plak tu… Haiihhh…terpaksalah besok cari burger king lagi.... :p

It’s not easy to be a woman..

Christmas 2008 Holiday: Singapore

Day 1:
Left KL to JB after lunch. Stayed over at my aunt’s place in JB and we spent the night chilling at home.

Day 2:

The most hated part of the days..traffic jam in Singapore!

We drove to Singapore, spent some time at the immigration and wasted a lot of time on the Singapore highway to get to Sentosa Island. We got lost of course! We were actually there at the exit to Sentosa but there were no signboard showing us the direction to get to the island, so we missed the turning. Memang lah the signboard dia not as good as Malaysia.. I tell you it is not easy to get lost in Malaysia.. but in Singapore.. oh my..maybe they are too advanced for us. Everybody is using GPRS so they don’t rely too much on the signboards. Unlike us…

Luckily we have a friend staying in Singapore so she helped us on finding our way back to Sentosa. Kita tapau nasi from the mainland and makan dalam kereta before we got our tickets to the Underwaterworld. So many people laaa…. And the place wasn’t that great pun..i was told that our very own Aquaria is so much better. I haven’t been there myself but I believe it’s true. The Underwaterworld was very small and sempit and ventilation very bad laa.. ada orang-orang yang busuk ketiak hangit masuk..adohaii… tak jadi tangkap gambar.. but I still enjoyed watching the ikan-ikan. Well, I guess I just love watching exhibitions.

Stingray

Look at the size of the fish. It is bigger than an 8 year old kid.

This would be my favourite fish because of the shape.

I don't know what's this supposed to be. Prolly a giant octopus?

The giant crab

The Great White Shark

Obor-obor glow in the dark

Later, we walked to the Siloso Beach which was about 5 minutes away from the Underwater. They said that it’s nice, but I personally think there’s nothing special about the beach. Biasa je la.. but that’s where they hold their beach parties for most of their celebrations.

At night, we went to the Night Safari. That was my second time going there but I didn’t mind…I like watching the animal shows. Tapi ticket mahal nak mampos… But it was good.

I was trying to snatch the kayu, my friend, Zetty was trying to help that person to light api. Later, she got scared because she actually touched the patung's face. Ali wanted to be in the picture too..but he wanted to stand next to the lady patung holding the child. And guess what la he wanted to do...? He wanted to jentik the lady's 'toot'..!!! Tapi dia malu..byk orang..haha!

Day 3:
S.H.O.P.P.I.N.G!!! The most awaited activity. We went to Orchard Rd and of course we barged in to each and every mall along the road. The ladies were only looking for handbags while the boys were more interested on football jerseys and of course men accessories. I wouldn’t say the Boxing-day sale was as good as the ones in the UK. I wouldn’t say that the prices were way much cheaper than Malaysia. But I would say that the selections were DAMN good. They have more varieties, and the things that has just arrived in Malaysia, are already on sale in Singapore! Some of the designers’ handbags can be gotten for less than a thousand ringgit. So you’ll be a fool if you don’t grab any. :p

However I found that most of the good stuff had been grabbed before Christmas. Only lucky people like my friend got to buy a DKNY handbag which is in the new arrival selections in Malaysia and she got it for RM 500+. She also bought one Braun Buffel handbag for the same price. Now that was really a good bargain for her.

I wasn’t as lucky as that though. My eyes were not locked on any of the stuff that was on discounts. Damn! Sepanjang I was there, I only had my eyes on the new arrival handbags. They were new that they have not even entered Malaysia. So I bought myself one DKNY and a Guess bag (that has a design macam Tod’s). Tak mampu beli Tod’s, dapat Guess design macam Tod’s pon jadi lah..hehe.. and I loved it! But they cost me a bomb! Thanks to my bonus!

Nevertheless, I guess Ali didn’t enjoy it as much as I did. That’s because he couldn’t find his cycling stuff over there and I feel really really bad for that. But I’m glad he got his jersey anyway.

Generally, nothing is really cheap over there. They are considered cheap if you are getting SGD salary. How I wish….!!!

This is a picture of us counting our last SGD to get ourselves Carl's Jr burger before heading back to JB. Kesian!

Bagai jatuh ditimpa tangga

Jika kau kekasih - Linda

Tidak kau terasa
Beban yang aku pikul
Menyeksa jiwaku kekasih
Kenapa kau tak pernah merasakan

Dan jika kau kekasih
Yang menyayangi aku
Harus kau mengerti hatiku
Itu hanya apa yang ku impikan
Bilakah kau akan mengerti

Kata hati
Merayu aku pergi
Meninggalkan dirimu
Tapiku tak terdaya
Mengapa kasih harus ku alami
Setelah aku korban segala-galanya
Sanggup ku harungi hidup
Bersama dirimu
Meninggalkan semua yang aku cintai

Jika kau kekasih
Semaikanlah hidupku
Jangan biar aku begini
Hidupku dalam kerunsingan kasih
Jika kau kekasih
Yang menyayangi aku
Harus kau mengerti hatiku
Itu hanya apa yang ku impikan
Bilakah kau akan mengerti

A long November

It has really been a long month. First week of the month was in inherently pressured by examination. My last paper finished at 2130, came home, and qada’ tido.. and was back in office the next morning. Started with new client, and already started to go home late the first few weeks of the job. Been on training for weeks, walaupon on training, kerje kat client still has to be done and so I stayed up till late after training. It has been tiring for me, tapi tak kurus-kurus jugak.. kalau la stress keje ni boleh kurus..i rela stress sampai bila-bila.. :p

It has been three days since I last saw my parents. Sent them to Tabung Haji..their flight to Mekah was at 11am, last Sunday, but had to be in Kelana Jaya at 7am that morning. My house has been packed with relatives and friends the whole weekend. And even the morning before my parents left the house, there were still some relatives came over to see them off. Although the weekend was tiring, but overall I was quite satisfied and thankful to those who dropped by to see my parents and wished them for the best.

I have not been updating the blog, mainly because I have been busy doing analysis and review for one of my clients about their expenses and loans. I have been writing..or shall I say typing.. the whole damn week that I was sooo lazy to even look at the computer when I get home.

A little update for the past week:

I was scheduled to change my laptop at the office from IBM T60 to IBM T400. Apparently, the latter one is the latest and it’s a wide screen. Had to return the laptop, and pen drive that was loaned to me when I first joined in order to get the replacement. The size of the pen drive was 512 mb. Unfortunately, I lost my pen drive some time last year and I never bothered to look for it or find a replacement from the shop, well I thought if I had to pay, just pay lah. Pen drive now is so cheap what? If follow market price pon, makan Chilli’s lagi mahal. But I was told recently that a girl lost her 128 mb pen drive, and had to pay RM100. And apparently it is a standard fine regardless of the size. I was like what the f***???

So I started looking for it at the shops (in case they still sell it). But memang don’t have la.. not only me went and look for it. Ali and my other friends also tried to help me.. but no success. My last resort was to buy from someone who owns it. And finally, a friend came to me and said she had one. And then to make it more complicated, I was told that my blardy firm would have known that it’s not the original because they only buy Kingston that’s blue in colour, so they are identifiable. Nasib memang malang, because my friend’s pen drive is RED!!!!

I am still looking for it though, although I have lost my means of getting it. There must be SOMEBODY in this world who had bought a blue Kingston 512mb pen drive before!!! Please.. let me buy from you! Hahah (punya lah tak nak bayar RM 100).. but.. what the hell..economy is bad!

John Winston Lennon

A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality

As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot

Everything is clearer when you're in love

I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Muhammad and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong

I'm not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything. I've always been a freak. So I've been a freak all my life and I have to live with that, you know. I'm one of those people

If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that's his problem. Love and peace are eternal

My role in society, or any artist's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all

Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it

Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted

Will the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands? And the rest of you, if you'll just rattle your jewelry

You don't need anybody to tell you who you are or what you are. You are what you are!

You either get tired fighting for peace, or you die

These are portion of quotes mentioned by John Lennon. I personally think he is one of the greatest human ever lived this earth. He is only driven by love and peace to lead his life and with those two principles held together in a very strong bond he managed to start a revolution that not only ended the Vietnam War but also triggered the resignation of President Nixon before he (John Lennon) was murdered in 1980.

Terry Fox - Kain pelikat Run

Us, after the 'run' looking cheerful and happy.

The big crowd that turned up for the charity run. The late Terry Fox must have been glad if he could see this. It was bigger than the last time I went for this run which was in 2006.

The original sarong president - Mr. Ngae with our biggest "loser", Upiq who lost 121 lbs in 15 months. That is a weight of one female!

Fairuz, Azman and Ayman with Hafiz partially seen at the back walking towards the assembly area looking like a group of 'gangster kampung'.

Adeline and May Senn enjoying themselves.

Azman and Mac looking casually cool among the rest.

The idea was initiated by Azman to turn up for this charity run in our sarongs. It was quite exciting and fun to see other friends who also turn up with their sarongs!! Well done Mr. Ngae (kain pelikat is his thing), Mac, May Senn, Upiq, Azman, Adeline, Ayman, Ariff and 2 other girls whom I did not manage to get their names.

It was all round fun and a relax walk for everyone of us and the idea of having fun did go to the roots of it all. We gather together around for some group pictures before going home. I believe Upiq and May Senn have more pictures in their possession. All the pictures above were taken with my mobile phone which explains the quality as being mediocre only. But do check out Upiq's and May Senn's blog or facebook for the rest of the photos. Cheers.

Izrin did not join us coz she has an important exam to sit for tomorrow and Tuesday, but she was still part of the event as she also contributed her share by purchasing those Terry Fox Run T-Shirts. We shall all look forward to the next one!

Exam is here!

Yesterday was my last mock paper. And I have already gotten my marks for the first set of mock. Haihh… not convincing at all. The passing mark for the exam is 50. My lecturer told us to aim just 50 marks, which is half of the full marks. But I went and get half of the passing mark instead. Ok la..a bit more than that.. But still..! 20 marks away from passing, mana nak cari??

It’s really not an easy exam(chewah.. salahkan exam plak!). Otak dah berkarat agaknya… It’s really frustrating when you see something that you have not encountered before during your lectures or revision and it comes out in your mock exam for 40 marks, and your real exam is just a week away.

Each paper consists of a 100 marker questions to be done in 3.5 hours with 2.5 pages worth of each question. I always wonder how can they actually find time to go to the washroom during the exam, when I don’t even have time to even take a sip of coffee. Now it’s almost here.. in less than a week, I’m gonna take that exam. The most killer papers so they said. Well I just have to get through these two papers, and I’ll be 90% away from bringing my misery to an end.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish Ali all the best in his exam. He’ll be sitting for his paper tomorrow. I’ll pray for you and I believe in you!

We need all the luck we can get!

Chelsea v LIVERPOOL FC

Here are all the pre-match stats and facts ahead of Sunday's trip to Chelsea:

# Head to head: (League only)

# Overall: Liverpool 58 wins, Chelsea 44 wins, 28 Draws.

# At Chelsea: Liverpool 15 wins, Chelsea 36 wins, 14 Draws.

# Should Liverpool win today it will be the 600th away victory in the top-flight in their history.

# Victory will give the Reds their best ever start to a Premier League season (outright). The current best is 21 points from the opening nine games set in 2002-03.

# Sami Hyypia could play the 450th game of his Liverpool career if selected.

# Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 15 league games - equalling their longest run under Rafa Benitez.

# The teams met three times at Stamford Bridge last season with Chelsea winning twice (in the League Cup and Champions League) with a goalless draw being played out in the league encounter.

# They clashed five times in total in 2007-08 with the two games at Anfield (in the league and Champions League) finishing in 1-1 draws after Liverpool had led in both.

# This is the 21st meeting between the sides since Rafa Benitez took over in 2004.

# Since the inception of the Premier League Liverpool have won 11 and lost 14 of the 32 meetings.

# Liverpool have won only once at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League. Bruno Cheyrou scored the only goal in January 2004. The only player still at Anfield who played that night is Sami Hyypia.

# Liverpool have lost ten of their last 12 league visits and won only one of the last 18.

# In the Premier League at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool have picked up just seven points out of a possible 48.

# Patrik Berger scored Liverpool's last hat-trick against Chelsea - at Anfield in October 1997.

# That is one of only four occasions when Reds players have scored three in a game against Chelsea - the others being James Stewart (1910), Fred Pagnam (1915) and Gordon Hodgson (1930). All were scored at Anfield.

# No player has ever scored a hat-trick for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

# Liverpool have not scored more than once in a League game on this ground in their last 12 visits since a 2-2 draw in December 1995 when Steve McManaman scored both goals.

# The Reds biggest victory on this ground came in December 1989 when they won 5-2.

# Liverpool's heaviest ever defeat at Stamford Bridge came on the opening day of the 1937-38 season when they lost 6-1.

# Last season the Reds kept only their second clean sheet in the last 13 league visits.

# Liverpool have led in Premier League matches this season for just 56 minutes in total.

# Seven of Liverpool's 13 league goals this season have been scored from the 77th minute onwards.

# Dirk Kuyt has scored as many league goals this season (three) as he did in the whole of last.

# Rafa Benitez is hoping to preside over his first league win on a ground of one of the other big four clubs.

# Last season's 3-2 Champions League defeat is the only time in the last nine visits to Stamford Bridge that Liverpool have scored.

# Liverpool and Chelsea league clashes have never produced three draws in succession.

# The Reds are the last team to prevent Chelsea from scoring in the Premier League. Since that goalless draw back in February the Blues have scored in all of their last 20 league games.

# Pepe Reina was controversially dismissed in the league meeting on this ground in February 2006.

# Jermaine Pennant's first goal for Liverpool came against Chelsea at Anfield in January 2007.

# Chelsea have not lost in their last 29 Premier League games since going down 1-0 at Arsenal last December.

# Frank Lampard scored in three games against Liverpool last season - twice from the penalty spot.

# They are currently unbeaten at Stamford Bridge in their last 86 league games since Arsenal won 2-1 in February 2004.

# They have a 100 per cent record away from home this season in the league but have won two and drawn two of their four games at the Bridge. Tottenham and Manchester Untied have played out 1-1 draws while Portsmouth (4-0) and Aston Villa (2-0) have both lost.

# Chelsea's last hat-trick in the fixture was scored by George Mills in August 1937 at Stamford Bridge.

# Chelsea have only conceded three goals in their 12 games this season in all competitions and have kept six consecutive clean sheets since Ji-Sung Park scored for Manchester United at The Bridge last month. They have played 10 hours and 12 minutes since that goal.

# The last team to breach their defence twice was Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final on this ground back in April.

# They have conceded more than once in a Premier League game on only one occasion in the calendar year of 2008 and that was a 4-4 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane with Robbie Keane scoring an 88th minute equaliser.

# Joe Cole could make his 150th league appearance for Chelsea.

# Current League Positions:

What is Beauty...

I came across an interesting documentary on Discovery Science on the subject beauty.
over centuries it has been debated on the universal accepted term of beauty. Kings of ancient time regard round and big bellies are nice and beautiful. However that is no longer the case in modern days.

I say that is no longer the case because we can hardly see an 'unattractive' people on billboard, magazines, TV or even radio. A character in FRIENDS (Joey to be precise) once mentioned "...then I would have done it all...drama, movie and musical...radio...everybody knows that's for ugly people"

But even so, that is probably arguable. Humans often associate beauty with good and best quality.
Another aspect which caught my intention watching the show was the relation between mathematics and science of beauty. The Romans came up with the idea that the closer the proportionality of human body parts to the ratio 1 : 1.618, the more attractive you are.

What the Romans are trying to say is that every part of our body is subject to mathematical equation and the theory is that if you divide the distance from the top of your head to the naval and bottom of your feet to your naval, it will give you the ratio 1 : 1.618.

Homer here will help us illustrate it further:

It does not only stop there, you can go on to other parts of the body, eg: width of the lips to the width of the nose, width of your front teeth to the next smallest teeth next to it, our fingers and so on.

Scientists also claim that top athletes tend to have a beautiful physical appearance. Their argument is backed up by this ancient Roman theory. The smaller the difference in size of our left hand side limbs as oppose to our right hand limbs, the more attractive you are and hence the more athletic you are. But they conclude that this is just an assumption based on human ability of balance. The ears play a role in giving us balance when we walk, run , cycle etc.

They are probably right to assume that as well, just look at Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney and Ronaldinho to name a few. These are top football players and they are probably regarded as 'unattractive' to some modeling agencies.

Rugby players are probably excluded since their faces and body are subject to force and pressure. Some of them are rather good looking, eg Gavin Henson, Daniel Carter, Dani Cipriani and so on.

Scientists developed the theory and enhanced it further to make a scaled mask that is now used by plastic surgeons in their tasks of 'repairing' facial 'deformity'.
That 'mask' is not really a mask, it is only a set of lines and triangles drawn over a person's face. The better your face fit the lines, the more attractive you are.
Tom Cruise and Elizabeth Hurley are those few people who are blessed with attractive features as shown on the show.

But the highlight of the show was the phrase "Beauty isn't a passport to success, it is just a Visa which expires". Which is why plastic surgeons are becoming more in demand these days. Humans can never be satisfied with their 'visa'. They will always find ways to extend them as long as they can. Some people in this country are also subject to this perhaps.

Miscommunication

Without mentioning names, one of our co-workers got a pen stuck inside our printer. He started to try and remove the pen, but I told him we don't have time for that now, just put a note on the printer telling folks not to use it and then report it to the Help Desk. So he grabbed a piece of paper and scrawled on it. I left before he finished the note.

About 20 minutes later, one of the techs comes in laughing and says he just saw a piece of paper on a printer and went to investigate.

Attached is what he found.

Accountants are boring

The other day I was asking Ali, why people always say chartered accountants are boring. Even my lecturer says this to us, “Please don’t score above 80% in your exams. Coz then you’ll be a prize winner. Well if people know you are a prize winner, they won’t talk to you. So just score safely at passing mark.” Or he’ll tease us by saying something like “If you go to a party and you say you’re a chartered accountant, people will slowly get away from you, so don’t you ever say you’re an accountant.” And that kept me bogged down thinking why the hell people hate accountants so much.

Finally I got the answer.

If you compare accountants with all other professionals, accountants live in their own world. The things that reel in their heads are unexciting and monotonous.

If your friend is a doctor, you can at least talk about things that related to human body. They’d be delighted to share their knowledge and expertise with you, and you as well will be fascinated to know human anatomy coz it is something to do with your body. At least there are things to talk about.

If you speak to a lawyer, yes, they can be boring sometimes if they come out with “In the so-and-so Act…” or they’ll come out with terms such as “Certiorary, prima facie, preponderance of evidence, adjudication, bona fide etc…” sometimes, you don’t even understand. But they are engrossed with the law of the land, the law of human relationships that underlines the civil obedience, economics and society. And guess what? You need this in your everyday lives. Each day you live, you are tied up with law. Civil law, Family law, Criminal Law, Land Law, Administrative Law is all associated with you each day. So you’ve got to be aware of those and yes, at least, there are some things that lawyers can get you occupied about.

Speaking to engineers depends on which field they are major in, they too can be as useful. My brother told me once (he’s going to be one) that filling up petrol is better to be done at night rather than during the day. Although I can’t really remember his explanation about particles and don’t-know-what, I find it rather useful because his explanation came to an end of concluding more fuel flows in at night and you’ll get more petrol in your tank. And he also said something like pumping the fuel slowly so that…..hmm.. I seriously can’t digest the scientific explanation behind that but basically you’ll get more fuel la.. Sorry.. I was not a science student. Like what I told Ali before, to get an A1 in my Science subject, I used to memorize my science experiments without understanding them, because I knew I’ll never understand them.

But accountants?????? You wouldn’t want to know what’s on accountants mind. Many people associate money with accountants. Dey! Tell me who doesn’t want money la? Accountants are not the people who make money for the company. Wrong concept. Accountants are the people controlling money activity in a firm so you don’t waste too much and at the same time, you don’t keep too much money in your firm without rolling in to other activities. Boring already? Yes, accountants are boring people. They do boring things and they are concerned about boring matters.

Tell me who’d want to know about what the International Accounting Standard says about how property should be accounted for in the financial statements? Who’d be attracted to know about issuing a redeemable share is a debt rather than equity? And you’ll go “Whaaat? What the hell is equity?” The things that whirl in accountants’ mind do not interest the public. Believe me you’d rather be stuck in a deserted island alone rather than baffling with another accountant in that island.

A friend once grumbled after calculating her sales the whole day.

Friend: Ah, pening kepala aku tengok nombor je satu hari ni. Migraine aku tau! Macam mana kau kerja hari-hari tengok nombor? Tak pening ke?
Me: Nak pening amendenya? I see numbers macam words. I spell and I read numbers.
Friend: Gila!

On another occasion with my other friends when I couldn’t work out what’s RM215 divided by 3 people.

Friend: Ha accountant pon fail kira.
Me: Excuse me, I’m an accountant, not a mathematician
Friend: Duhh, what’s the difference?
Me: Difference is, mathematicians calculate numbers, but accountants read numbers.
Friend: Read numbers? Crazy!

Had a chat with my lecturer in one of those lecture days.

Lecturer: Only an accountant understands another accountant’s joke.
Me: Does that mean we have to find an accountant as our life partner since it takes another accountant to understand our joke?
Lecturer: Nooooooooo! One in a family is enough..

This entry is boring? I’m an accountant what do you expect.. haha..

There’s a saying “Don’t marry a chartered accountant! They’ll bore you to death.”

Ali, are you gonna take a step back? :p

Visit to Ulu Langat...

After a long long period of no outdoor cycling, I decided to join the Jom Kayuhhh event organised by Bacin, Azwar and Co. The proposed route was Bt 14-Peres-Titi-Bt14.

All together there were 30 odd cyclist riding together, or rather partially together since the fitness level within the group were scattered. I was very well at the tail end of the whole lot.

We started climbing Peres at approximately 0840. Reached the top after about 1h 10m. We were supposed to continue to Titi but at the top the group split with some heading towards Tekala. And I decided to follow the Tekala group.

It was great to clock some mileage albeit a low one but some of the climbs did help me realised that the phrase 'sakit tapi sedap' is very much true to a large extent.

Right now, I am looking forward to have some mechanical upgrade done on the bike in order I can have a better gear ratio to help me on the climb. Climbing has never been my favourite, flats are tiring as well, downhill I like...haha..

Looking forward to the upgrade done by end of the year. Anyone would now if a 9 speed cassette with 12-25 ratio is still available in the market?

Raya 2008

First day raya was spent at my grandfather’s house in Ayer Tawar, Perak. All my father’s siblings were there except my Mak Teh who were due to celebrate first day raya at her in laws. It’s the same old story, same old people, and same old food. Only this time we had four servants to help around. Menu of the day..alamak..kalau tak gemuk tak tau lah.. we have got nasi tomato with ayam kurma and jelatah nenas, ayam rendang, daging rendang lemang and ketupat, asam laksa, and not to forget kuih muih sajian hari raya. Memang meletup!

Alhamdulillah.. I still get some duit raya even though I am a working girl now. But I get duit raya from my parents more than what I gave them.. haha.. takper..yang penting ikhlas.. :)

This time round, I have only made 2 pairs of baju raya. I normally used to make for myself at least 4 to 5 baju raya. But the 4th and the 5th will be kept for raya haji. Now..not anymore laa.. not when I have to pay for myself. Hehe.. very the pokai..

Second raya, shoot straight to Ipoh to visit relatives from my mom’s side. Here are some raya photos. The thing I like about going back Ipoh is we get to eat kampong style food. Memang best bila nasi ada sambal belacan. Makan dengan sardine pon sodap.

I love visiting relatives. I like the fact that we go to hulu and ceruk to visit family members. Raya is the only time we get to do this. Raya is the only time we get to see sedara jauh. But you’ll get 1001 same remarks every year. “Dah besar dah anak Khairil ni” (Don’t know dah besar memanjang ker or dah besar melebar?) :p “Lawo nye anak si Khairil ni” (Ni yang paling best..hahah) “Lain nya anak dara ni, dulu keciik jer comey. Skang dah besar panjang, bila nak kawin???” (Ahhhh… ni soalan panas..:p) I get these everytime!

Here are some photos to share;

This is my Opah. Everytime I see her, she will call me Ali. Or her favourite line would be "Aku ni nak nunggu nengok kamu kawin je ni" Hehe.. sabar, Opah..!

Ini atok saya. He is 75 years old but his memories are damn good. He can remember things that happened when I was 5! I oso never remember..hmm!

My mother and I. She's the superwoman everytime balik kampung. She heads the kitchen during raya, and that's the only time she cooks during the year.. hehe

My cousin, Anne.

The lady cousins presenting the Kelantanese, the Perakian, the Kajangian and Subangian

The big boys in the family.
These are the mummies
And the daddies

All my cousins except the babies

My dad, mom and brother (my dad is always the spoiler, coz he always forgets the theme color for raya)

"Saya Aizat. Saya sangat pemalu."

This is my favourite guy, Zul Azhari. He is only 3 but he talks like a 6 year old kid.

Azhari's new pair of shoes. He loves the shoes so much that he wears it to bed. The only time he takes it off is when he takes his bath. He wears it everyday that by raya day, the lampu from his right shoe went dead.

He loves taking photos and he will gives his best pose too. Everytime he sees me he would say "Jom kita tangkap gambar nak?" Can u believe that he's only 3?

And he's the only kid who is not afraid of my dad. Most kids would not dare to pass by in front of him.

This is Farah Yasmin a.k.a Debbie a.k.a debab

She doesn't like to be lifted by other than her parents and her bibik. But, if you ever want to dukung her and she cries, the trick to make her senyap is to sumbat food inside her mouth, then she will stop crying and instead she will munch

Do you know that she is 11.1 kg and she is not even 1 year old? Tak rasa nak picit sampai penyek ke??? GERAM!!!

Selamat Hari Raya

This I guess so far has been the best Ramadhan ever. Although I am particularly tied up with my studies with my exam that is just around the corner, I have managed to de-nerd myself and tried to enjoy my holidays as they are. But of course late at night as I lay on my bed trying to sleep, the guilt starts crashing down on me. Guilt in the sense that I have not been utilizing my leave for study instead, go and buka puasa outside everyday.

Yes! That’s what made my Ramadhan special this time. I managed to get together in some sort of small reunion with my old school friends, ex-college mate, Cardiff mates, ex housemates, ex and current classmates, primary school babes, my boyfriend’s best mates and family members. Pendek kata, different group of friends akan pergi makan at different places. During the whole Ramadhan itself, I have been committed to fattened myself at Carl’s Jr, Sri Ayuthaya, Burger King, Delicious, Nando’s, T.G.I.Fridays, Chicken Hartz, Pizza Hut, San Francisco Steakhouse, PJ Hilton and many more I think. I seriously can’t recall some other places we’ve been to. Ali and I even had our Sahur at McD at 4 a.m in the morning.

Now sapa kata bulan puasa boleh kuruskan badan? It appears to be totally the opposite for me. But anyhow, I enjoyed every single bit of it. Not solely because of the food la, but the crowd had made it special.

As I am writing, I am actually waiting for my old folks to pack and in about 15 minutes time, we’re off to Perak. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya, maaf zahir dan batin. Semoga raya tahun ini memberi berkat kepada semua.

Oh, when talking about raya, I remember a raya song that has been my family's companion everytime we balik kampung since I was little. I think most people would remember a raya song from EON many years back from the tele. It goes:

But of course, the song has been improvised a bit that goes:

Hari Beruk, hari yang seronok, pagi-pagi makan cekodok,
Tua muda miskin dan beruk, menyambutnya dengan pakai songkok,
Berhati-hati di jalan bengkok, semoga anda terlanggar pokok,
Ucapan selamat hari beruk, Dari EON untuk beruk.

Ntah sapa-sapa lah yang mengajar tu..

To Ali, jangan makan banyak (That applies to me too). Hehehe.. And don’t miss me! =)

Mencintaimu - Kris Dayanti

I am sure ‘Mencintaimu’ by Kris Dayanti is a song that every woman would love to have it played on their wedding day. Like a theme song you know what I mean? I have been to several wedding occasions that had this song played while running their montage, while walking down the aisle, while potong cake.

I am the type of person who enjoys great music, and when it comes to romantic love songs, I take pleasure in scrutinizing the lyrics and try to appreciate the meaning in between the lines. Sometimes I’d imagine myself as the subject matter of the song (konon menghayati lah) so I can understand more.

This is what I found in ‘Mencintaimu’.

Mencintai mu,
Seumur hidup ku,
Selamanya,
Setia menanti.
Walau di hati saja,
Seluruh hidup ku,
Selamanya,
Kau tetap milik ku
( chorus )
Hanya satu yang tak mungkin kembali,
Hanya satu yang tak pernah terjadi,
Segalanya teramat berarti di hati ku,
Selamanya...Mencintai mu,
Seumur hidup ku,
Selamanya,
Kau tetap milik ku

Seriously this is not a wedding song. It is a love song and I agree it is a very beautiful song, but it is definitely not a happy ending song, thus not suitable for weddings.

The first verse: She is saying that she loves him for the rest of her life, forever, she will wait. Hmm..wait for what I wonder?

Second verse: ‘Walau di hati saja seluruh hidupku’. Kenapa mesti di hati saja? Kalau dah kawin, zahir batin la…

Chorus: ‘Hanya satu tak mungkin kembali, yang tak pernah terjadi’. At this point, I would have thought that the guy has passed away. He will never come back, so yang tak pernah terjadi is their marriage, or their dreams of growing old together will never come true. Tapi ‘segalanya teramat bererti’ means that their memories together are so meaningful and will always be in her mind forever.
So this song is actually just another sad love song. I don’t know la if different people have got different interpretation on the lyrics. But I’d love to share.

Merseyside Derby episode 208

taken from LFC's Website....

Everton v Liverpool

# Liverpool completed a league 'double' over their city rivals last season.

# At Goodison last October Dirk Kuyt scored two penalties in a 2-1 win after Sami Hyypia scored an own goal to give the Blues a half-time lead.

# Hyypia became only the second Liverpool player ever to score an own goal in a Merseyside derby following Neil Ruddock in 1997.

# Dirk Kuyt is the only player to score two penalties in a derby. He is now one behind the leading scorer from the spot in the fixture-Phil Neal.

# In the return fixture at Anfield in March Fernando Torres scored seven minutes into his derby debut to give Liverpool a 1-0 victory.

# Liverpool have won 81 of the 207 meetings in all competitions with Everton winning 64 and 62 ending in stalemate.

# In League meetings today will see the 179th clash with the Reds leading 67-56.

# Liverpool have lost just two of the last ten ‘derbies' at Goodison winning six of the last eight.

# The Reds have lost just two of the last 17 meetings home and away.

# The last player to score a hat-trick in a ‘Derby' was Ian Rush. He scored four on this ground in a 5-0 win in November 1982. Dixie Dean is the last Everton player to achieve the feat scoring all his sides goals in a 3-1 win in September 1931.

# Ian Rush in that above game became the first and so far only Liverpool player to score a league hat-trick at Goodison.

# The Reds 'double' last season was their third in the Premiership over Everton having previously achieved the feat in 2000-01 and 2005-06.

# Only four of the players currently at these two clubs have scored in a Merseyside 'derby'. Steven Gerrard (three), Dirk Kuyt (two) and Fernando Torres (one) have scored for the Reds while the only Everton player to do so is Tim Cahill (three times).

# Steven Gerrard and Phil Neville are the only players in Derby history to be sent off twice.

# Only three penalties have been saved in the derby with the last being by Bruce Grobbelaar in March 1984 at Goodison from Graeme Sharp.

# Liverpool could have possibly four 'Derby' debutants in the game- Andrea Dossena, Robbie Keane, Albert Riera and Alvaro Arbeloa.

# The Reds have kept only one clean sheet in the last eight league visits to Goodison but in that time have scored 16 goals.

# Both sides biggest league win on this ground has been by a 5-0 scoreline. Everton recorded theirs in April 1909 and Liverpool in November 1982.

# Robbie Keane scored a hat-trick for Tottenham against Everton in January 2003 in his side's 4-3 win at White Hart Lane. He has scored six league goals in total against the Blues.

# Liverpool are the only team in the top-flight not to concede an away league goal this season.

# A win today would equal their best start to a Premier League campaign which they set in 1996-97 when took 14 points from their opening six games.

# The Reds are unbeaten in the last 12 league games since losing 3-0 at Manchester United in March.

# The last Liverpool player to score a first-half goal in a league game is Jermaine Pennant who opened the scoring in a 2-0 win at Fulham in April.

# Steven Gerrard's next goal will be his 100th for Liverpool. He will be the 16th player to achieve the feat and the first since Michael Owen in December 2001. Under Gerard Houllier he scored 28 goals in 240 games while he has played 206 times under Rafa Benitez scoring 71.

# Liverpool are three goals short of recording 1,000 in Premiership history.

# The Reds have scored five goals in their five league games this season. Only Fulham, Newcastle, Manchester United and Tottenham have netted fewer.

# All of Liverpool's six wins this season have been by a single goal.

# Four of the Reds five league goals this season have been scored in the last 15 minutes of games.

# Only Steven Gerrard has scored more than once this season – he has three to his name.

# The Reds have been drawing at half time in each of the last seven league games.

# Everton have only scored more than twice against Liverpool in one of the last 83 meetings. This came in the 3-0 win here two years ago.

# Everton have come from behind to win a Derby only once since the war-that came in 1992 when Peter Beardsley scored the winner at Goodison.

# David Moyes has managed a winning side against Liverpool only twice in 13 tussles.

# Everton have been awarded just seven penalties in post-war league derbies with five being scored and two missed. Liverpool during the same period have scored ten of their 13.

# Of the 32 Premier League meetings Everton have won eight and lost 13.

# Should Everton lose today it will be the first time since December 2005 that they have lost three in a row at home in the league. Then they were beaten by West Ham, Bolton and…Liverpool!

# 21 players have been sent off in total in Merseyside ‘derby' fixtures – seven Liverpool and 14 Everton with seven red cards being brandished in the last seven games and 16 in total in 32 Premier League meetings.

# Everton have conceded 11 goals this season in the Premiership – only Portsmouth (12) have let in more.

# The Blues have kept only one clean sheet in their last 16 games in all competitions. The last was against Derby in a 1-0 win last April.

# They have won more away points (7) than any other Premier League team but are the only side in England not to win a home point during this campaign.

# Mike Riley has been appointed as referee for this game. He was last in charge of a Merseyside ‘derby' in August 2003 when Liverpool won 3-0 at Goodison with Michael Owen scoring twice and new Reds number 7 Harry Kewell scoring his first goal for the club.

What a Load of Crap

taken from the STAR....

VARESE (Italy): Two Malaysian cyclists have seen their bid to compete with the world’s emerging elite hit by some strange sports politics leading up to the world road race championships here.
According to a source close to the national team, Malaysia spurned the right to send five riders already qualified for the men’s Under-23 race over fears the trip would blow a hole in their budget.
In stepped Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz, the organiser of the Tour of Malaysia race, who ended up providing the funds to send two of the five qualified riders to Lombardy for the six-day competition. However it remains to be seen how well Fauzan Ahmad Lufti and Anuar Manan, who are fasting, fare in the race today, which will be held over 10 laps of a 17.335km course.
While some of the world’s future road racing stars have been preparing all year for the race, the Malaysians were told only a week ago they would be travelling to Italy.
To make matters worse, both had drastically reduced their training and eating regime, having started fasting on Sept 1.
Inspired by the track cycling pursuits of their compatriots, who gave a good account of themselves in the sprint and keirin events at the Beijing Olympics last month, Fauzan and Anuar are hoping they can one day get to world level.
Fauzan struggled in the Under-23 time trial on Tuesday but he’s not giving up hope.
“I want to get experience at world level by participating with the world’s best.
“I want to continue my road racing career and try to qualify for the elite races one day. AFP

If you don't have passion for the sport, you shouldn't even handle the budget for the developement of the sport. Win or lose is not the ultimate aim in sports of cycling. Who are we to compare them cyclists with the likes of top European or American and Australian Champs.

But give them a break la MNCF. They need those exposures. This is a complete waste of opportunity when it is made clear that Malaysia has 5 spots and we are only sending 2 out of an individual personal funds who care about cycling more than the government itself.

To make it worse, those 2 riders were only told that they could participate a week ago. They are now the victims of poor funds handling and immature decision making.

Tau la musim raya nak dekat...politik pun tunggang langgang...tapi kalau nk jadi champion...pedulik apa semua tu...Fauzan ngan Anuar selamba je nk gi race puasa2 pun...
Why are they doing it? Because they believe in themselves and they love their cycling so much. And bless them for having an ex MP who supports them all out.

I am hoping that the coming Jelajah Malaysia will make MNCF and youth and sports ministry realise how bad their performance are. But I doubt it will be the case. Because to perform at their 'best', they need a lot of 'other' expenditure. And they always prefer to travel first class and stay at luxury hotels and eat the best meal. Tapi yang race nya bukan dorang...

Unless and until this bad exercise is removed altogether, Malaysia will never be better in Singapore in any sports. Not only sports la...sporting events pun sure kene tapau....just look at the innaugural Singapore F1 GP compared to Sepang's?? You people be the judge. They are the ones working hard on making it a better race than Sepang...so don't blame them. We need to buck up and take it as a challenge. Stop making remarks claiming Singapore 'sabotaged' Malaysian GP.

Jelajah Malaysia and LtDL lagi la beruk...takyah nk ckp apa la...sorang bajet belanja budak skolah RM1.50 sorang bajet RM12.00.

Habis rehat dua2 sama kenyang...dua2 sama mengantuk dalam kelas...

Wahai sports politician...grow up and be a man...stand up for yourself or quit!!
Shame on you that it has gone this far to see atheletes sponsored and funded by individuals who understand those atheletes better than you are. Shame on you.

It clearly shows that you have no passion at all towards sports. You only have passion in kissing powerful people's backside to have top post that you have no idea the mechanics of it.

You should just stick to your golf and grand gala or function and leave this to other people who care about sports genuinely.
