Walk around for breast cancer

DO YOU KNOW??

410,000 people are expected to die from breast cancer this year worldwide.
1 in 33 women will die from breast cancer
Less than 5 percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer are younger than 40.

I found out about this event when I was window shopping at Studio R, Pyramid. The attraction was actually to the pink pair of shoes that was displayed worn by an ugly mannequin, wearing pink running attire, with the pink ribbon pinned on the shirt. I was excited to get myself registered for the walking only to find that the event is only organised around the US, not around the world.

Perhaps, I went into the wrong web!! Today, I got to find out that the event is going to be organised here, in my home!

"Walk Around the World events are linked by the Global Connection Ribbon, which is the symbolic emotional component that connects breast cancer survivors and participants across the world. The ribbon is a powerful symbol of the connection to each other and shared determination to turn every diagnosis into a story of survival"

Unfortunately for me, the event clashes with Adidas KOTR. The details are as follows:

Date: 10 August 2008
Venue: Taman Tasek Titiwangsa
Time: 0700.

Register

For those who are generally free, or are not running for KOTR on the 10th, please do support this event. The money raised from this charity event will be used to finance breast health educational workshop with the mission of training the women on the importance of saving lives through early detection. Also, to help lighten the burden of lower income breast cancer survivors.
